Introduction

Center for Policy and Communications
This Center manages the voice of the Johnson Institute and collaborates with other stakeholders regarding addiction disease in our society. In 2004, the testimony by JI President Johnny Allem before the Institute of Medicine provided a concise, targeted policy statement that has helped to provide focus for the voices and actions of the addiction recovery field.

Center for Education and Advocacy
The Johnson Institute has long worked for increasing the voice and power of individuals and families who have experienced recovery from addiction. We have played a significant role in the current growth of the recovery movement in America. JI provided start-up funding for the Alliance Project, forerunner of the Faces and Voices of Recovery Campaign. This Center features direct support for this movement, training leaders, and creating forums for action.

The Rush Center
The Center drives Johnson Institute’s historical commitment to exploring the nexus between faith and science as well as seeing congregations as a critical venue for healing and understanding with regard to alcohol and other drug problems. Since 1997, JI has supported and financed work in the congregational team approach and introduced significant seminary training on addiction issues.
